|

Hey all,
I am finding that I am playing my other guitars more often because I am not satisfied with the 500 in the bridge of my paddy. For my ears, it is great for lead stuff but lacking in rhythm. "Thin" would be the best way for me to describe it. For example, my music man with basswood/D sonic combo is great for warm rhythm/distorted 5 chords, but lacks the "bite" on lead tones of the 500.
I like the mahogany/Liquifier/Crunchlab combo of my music man, but I don't know if these pickups would sound good with a paddy.
Starlovin, did you get to sample this pickup combo with your paddy N7 before you sent it back to Jon?
Has anyone experimented with pickups in their paddy?
Thanks,
J |

the first one (we built) cracked. The padauk was tough to work with. The washburn one (the one he has now) has not been back to us.
and from what I understand, I would have to wrestle Radj to get it back |

Wrestle with the #1 Washburn N4 dealer in the world? Nah, I think I'll sit this one out. lol.
As for my N7, it's got a duncan distortion at the bridge which I'm loving soooo much more than the BLUSA or the B&B pups. The N7 is my #1 in my band Lovenbodyparts. In my other band, my 2.0 Paddy is my #1.
But yeah, overalll, the duncan distortion does have more low end and way more growl to it. Also find it quite percussive sounding. If I had the coin, I'd replace all my other N4 guitars with this pickup. _________________ Proud owner of:

The Duncan Distortion is a killer pickup. A friend of mine has 2 ESP MIIs with the Distortion in the bridge and I really love their sound. Chunky is a very apt description. |

Yeah, I've got a Duncan Distortion in an old Charvel and it rocks.
As far as the Paddy is concerned, I have new pickups incoming from Jon. They are a Moe Joe and Paf Joe, which are not only two of my go-to, favourite pickups, but I think they'll sound killer in the paddy.....
and yes, they're blue _________________ N4, N3, N4 Natural Quilt 2.0, N4 Paddy 2.0, N4XX #26, N4 Walnut/Wenge

Sure, no problem. I'll record some stuff now with the standard set, on clean, crunch and distorted tones and then do the same for the new pickups. I'm not sure you'll be able to hear the blue-ness of the Moe Joe and Paf Joe, but I'll see what I can do _________________ N4, N3, N4 Natural Quilt 2.0, N4 Paddy 2.0, N4XX #26, N4 Walnut/Wenge

What about a Dimarzio Tonezone? That seems to really liven up the Charvels I have heard it in.
Assuming your are hankering after that 80's tone! (which I am!)

Since we are talking about pickups...can anyone tell me their opinions of the B&B 500xl vs. the BLUSA 500xl? _________________ Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess. |
